I will concede that they look very nice but considering that the special thing about their guitars is how heavily they've personally modded them over the years to buy one off of the rack seems to go against the spirit of the thing. Just buy your own Jazzmaster and fuck up the electronics yourself. Anyway here's the blurb ...
Lee Ranaldo and Thurston Moore signature model Fender Jazzmaster guitars will be available in stores July 1. The guitars reflect decades of road-tested customization knowledge. According to the Fender site: “Lee and Thurston have always heavily modified their Jazzmaster guitars- removing all extraneous controls- simplifying and stripping them back to their essence, leaving just a 3 way switch and a volume knob. In many ways these 2 instruments are similar, yet in almost every major way (pickups, bridges, frets, pickguard) they are totally different.” More info.

Thurston's tuning on Teenage Riot is supposedly GABDED, though I always found that version didn't really sound like Teenage Riot at all... but thats partially because of how overloaded with guitars I imagine the track is....
That website also has a list of songs to each tuning... so you see what tracks did use that tuning.
Yeah, I posted that before I went over to that site to check to confirm and found that it wasn't. I deleted that section but you were obviously in too quick.
You sure it isn't G A B D E G as per http://www.sonicyouth.com/mustang/tab/tuning.html?
Actually it appears that that tuning has never been used on any SY song (at least not on any album tracks up to rather ripped) but is most similar to ones that Lee has used.
Haha yeh GABDEG, the last D was a typo!
That tuning is actually
F# F# G G A A
How to tune: Eu2 Ad3 Du5 Gs Bd2 Ed7
Used on: Tom Violence (TL), Schizophrenia (T), White Kross (TL),
Drunken Butterfly (TL), Skip Tracer (T).
NOTES: n/a
You can tell by the markings of the string gauges that the 46s are at the bottom and the 17s at the top (higher sounding strings).
However as that piece of tape is probably from the back of a headstock which is you were looking at whilst playing right handed would read that way.
Obviously there's a good chance that the tape is not from the back of a headstock, it was instead made by Fender's marketing department to look like something from the back of a headstock
i'd still buy ten
