Finally, comfirmed Tom Waits details.

As ever it's Jim with the final scoop.

July 30, 31 August 1st.

"These will be in an all-seated marquee in the Phoenix Park (to be called The Ratcellar). Tickets will be €116.25 and €131.25 and will go on sale on Tuesday next at 9am"

I'm prepared to pay it, if I don't gets tickets I'm prepared to fly elsewhere to see him. I've paid more in total to travel to see worse but he's one of the very few that I'd be willing to go over a ton to see just for the ticket.

Right, I think I just may have to shell out, just in case he doesn't come back for another 21 years.

Great news Ian, but who's promoting it?..ie. Will I have to get tickets through Ticketmaster or will th likes of Road Recs be given a supply?

It's an Aiken event.

Tickets are only via Ticketmaster I think as there appears to be a number of anti touting measures put in place. Ones which it seems will make it inconvenient if you want to bring a seond person but don't know who yet.

From the TM site:

The Tom Waits Tour will be subject to new anti-scalper plans, therefore, the following conditions will be in place:

* Tickets are strictly limited to two(2) per person.
* If you are purchasing your tickets at a Ticketmaster Outlet, a Valid I.D. (Passport of Driving Licence) is required at time of purchase. Purchasers name will appear on both tickets.
* On entry to the venue all patrons must present a valid I.D. (Passport or Driving Licence) matching the name on the ticket(s) in order to gain entry to the venue. Failure to provide matching valid I.D will result in you not gaining access to the event.
If you purchase two tickets, both patrons must be present at time of entry to the venue.
* All Tickets will be scanned for validation on entry to the show.
* Any Tickets resold will be refused entry to the venue.
* Only Tickets purchased from official Ticketmaster outlets will be valid.
* No resale allowed under any circumstances.

Is it rape if I'm giving it up willingly?

I just feel physically ill when I see any artist come to Ireland and charge a minimum of 3 figures. Sickening.

Market rate, we've proven ourselves repeatedly to be complete saps when it comes to this shit. And it's not just the big gigs like this. An English friend of mine nearly did a spitake last week when he was over and I told him how much we'd paid for that Villalobos gig.

Will the rat cellar have real rats and cobwebs and stuff? Maybe the high overheads are to make the place look suitably poor and bet down for Tom Waits late night barroom shtick?

I can't believe that people are going to be sucked into paying this amount to see Tom Waits, sure he probably will never be back again but at that price I won't want him back again, how big is this rat cellar going to be? imagine paying €131 to see a little speck on a stage, I don't see how he is going to sell out 3 dates at that price unless it's going to be a pretty small venue.
